Spinto soprano Margaret Lampasi, a semi-finalist in the Wagnerian division of the Gerda Lissner Opera Competition, is known for her ability to perform works of great dramatic intensity, while also demonstrating the sensitive lyricism essential for art song and lieder genres she deeply loves. Critical reviews have described her voice as “superb”, “expressive” and a “rich and centered soprano.”

In Upstate New York, Ms. Lampasi made her debut as a soloist with the Glens Falls Symphony in J.S. Bach’s solo Wedding Cantata, a performance that was aired on classical radio station WMHT. She has also been an opera and oratorio soloist with other orchestras, including the Brockton and New Bedford Symphonies, Ocean State Chamber Orchestra, and the Great Woods Festival Orchestra.

Passionate about connecting with audiences and making the world of art song more accessible, Ms. Lampasi has performed numerous song recitals at the Massry Center for the Arts in the Picotte Recital Hall, as well as in other community venues. She has had the pleasure of performing solo works by Hugo Wolf, Poulenc, and Delibes both individually and as part of the well-received faculty ensemble, the Saint Rose Camerata.

Ms. Lampasi was selected by the renowned Troy Savings Bank Music Hall to perform in their Music at Noon Series, where she presented her Breath of Fresh Air solo recital, themed around spring and motherhood.

Margaret is always eager to perform contemporary pieces written by living composers. Collaborating with pianist Josiah Stocker, she has performed many songs by Vincent Persichetti, including his challenging song cycle, Harmonium, at both Saint Rose and the University of Maryland.

She has been the soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem and Amy Beach’s Canticle of the Sun with Adirondack Voices in Glens Falls. Additionally, she has performed the soprano solos in Schubert’s Mass in G with Albany’s Festival Choir .
